The "Toward 2035" initiative of the United Church has encouraged us to ponder is 'what new church is God birthing in the years ahead? To this end, through the season of Eastertide Northwood did some significant exploration of "Toward 2035". Our Easter focus guided us in further discerning how we are to 'be' the United Church in the ten years following our centenary. Amidst a time of massive church attendance decline and a large shift in the population reporting their religious affiliation to be "no religion", Toward 2035 is asking what is the call of the church in this unique historical time? Each Sunday, we shared a conversation with a few people after the reflection. In addition, several members attended the Pacific Mountain Regional Church led conversations in Abbotsford and Burnaby. Attached, you will find a full summary of the discussions from our May 10th worship service (many recall writing their comments on 'sticky notes' and placing them on the glass wall) In addition people's impressions of the PMR discussions held in Abbotsford and Burnaby are included. We are hoping that these might open space for further discussion and guide the church's ministry in the chapters ahead.
