The Jazz Orchestra of the 49th Parallel ( JO49 ) is one of the newest big band formed in the lower mainland. Its players live south of the river or in the Fraser Valley. We are your friendly neighbourhood community 17 piece Jazz Big Band who believe that ‘with great power comes great groove responsibility’. Whether you're a jazz lover or simply seeking a moment of peace, this service blends musical brilliance with spiritual depth.
Typically, our services last for an hour, and in Northwood fashion, we offer a time of conversation over home baked goods prior to Vespers.
The Jazz Vespers service provides a time where jazz meets the Spirit in a time of reflection and prayer. The suggested donation is $10, or pay-what-you can.
