Children's Fall Party

πŸŽ‰πŸ‚What a Fantastic Fall Party! πŸŽ‰πŸ‚
On Friday, October 3rd, Northwood was bursting with laughter, creativity, and pumpkin-powered fun at our Children’s Fall Party!  πŸ“Έ Everyone struck their best poses at the Fall Photo Booth 🎯 Played Tic Tac Toe with pumpkins (yes, pumpkins!) 🎬 Snuggled up for a cozy Charlie Brown movie with popcorn 🌳 Added heartfelt notes to our Thankful Tree ✨ And enjoyed so much more — crafts, games, and giggles galore!
“Children” of all ages joined in the fun, and by the end of the night, our volunteers were happily exhausted and full of joy.
πŸ’› Thank you to everyone who came out and made it magical!
πŸŽ„ We can’t wait to see you again at our December Party — it’s going to be even more festive and fun!

National Truth and Reconciliation Day

September 30th, 2025

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation coincides with Orange Shirt Day. It began on Sept. 30, 2013, when Phyllis Webstad from the Stswecem'c Xgat'tem First Nation opened up about her trauma caused by residential schools. It is now into its 8th year.
Northwood United Church hosted an event led by the Surrey-Delta Metis society as we walk the path towards reconciliation and learning with our Indigenous siblings.
The day was coordinated by Lee Fraser (President) and Anthony Krilow (Vice-President) with lunch and snacks provided for all who attended. It began with powerful teaching by Metis Elder Deni Paquette. It continued with traditional dancing by Metis Elder Bev. The crowds first enjoyed watching the dancers perform and later were invited to learn some simple dance steps. There were also opportunities to learn traditional finger weaving and medicine pouches.
Events such as this one provide further opportunities for cultural learning, respect and the ongoing work of reconciliation.
