Mission and Service Fund

The United Church's Mission and Service Fund works with partners in Canada and internationally to ensure that needs are assessed quickly and accurately, responses are immediate, and that on-going support helps prevent problems from re-occurring.

Because of the Mission and Service Fund, the United Church is able to quickly respond to emergency situations without waiting for media appeals to create interest. By working with reliable trusted partners in Canada and in 37 countries, less money is spent coordinating and delivering aid. More money goes where it is needed.

REFUGEE SPONSORSHIP UPDATE

Our church is currently involved in two sponsorships:

The first is for Hima Alhaj Hammoud, the brother of Rasha.  We are pleased to share news that his application has been approved by the Canadian government.  The application has now gone to Beirut, Lebanon, for final acceptance.  This process could take some months still.  We are all very excited for this progress.

The second is on behalf of a good friend of the Alhaj Hammoud family, Zakaria Alatrat.  Zakaria already had funds for his two cousins, Mohammad and Eisa Al Sobeh from Lebanon.

Their applications are through the UCC. Pictures of all are on the refugee bulletin board in the Gathering Area.

Embracing The World

The founders of this church believed that ours is a living faith, a faith that is expressed not only in ministry, but also in mission in and with the world. (from The United Church of Canada)
